Who Knows More?

How to play Who Knows More?

The rules on one page, like the sheet in a board-game box. The same rules are in the app as slides.

The goal

Find out who really knows the others best. Each turn is about one player: everyone guesses their answer. Guess right and you score. At the end, the player with the most points wins.

What you need

  • 2 to 50 players, each with the app on their own phone or tablet.
  • An internet connection.
  • Friends you think you know well.

Set up a room

  1. One player taps Create, picks a category and a question set, and chooses the settings: time to answer, when the game ends, how many players.
  2. The room gets a 6-digit code. Share it, send the link, or invite friends straight from the room.
  3. Everyone else taps Join and types the code.
  4. When at least 2 players are in, the creator taps Start.

A turn

  1. The game picks whose turn it is — let's say Ken.
  2. Everyone sees the same question. Ken sees "What is my favourite cheese?"; everyone else sees "What is Ken's favourite cheese?".
  3. Everyone answers at the same time, Ken too. Ken gives his real answer; the others guess it.
  4. Nobody sees anyone's pick while the timer runs — only how many have answered.
  5. The turn ends when everyone has answered or the time is up.

Typed questions: you type your guess instead of picking. When time is up, Ken sees the answers and marks every one that's right (answers that only differ in spelling or capitals are grouped together).

Points

  • Everyone except Ken who matches Ken's answer gets the question's points.
  • Ken scores nothing on his own turn — the game rewards knowing others.
  • Easy questions are worth 1 point, medium 2, hard 3.
  • After each turn everyone sees who got it right, the scoreboard, and a little message.

If Ken doesn't answer

If the time runs out before Ken answers (or marks), everyone gets a 30-second countdown. Still nothing? Ken's turn is skipped and Ken is out of the game. The others play on — with only one player left, the game ends.

Pausing and new players

  • The creator can pause the game; the timer stops for everyone. A pause ends by itself after 5 minutes.
  • While paused, the creator can tap Invite new player. The room gets a new code (the old one stops working).
  • New players join at the end of the current turn with 0 points.
  • A player who dropped out and is invited back keeps their score.

Losing connection

If your connection drops, you have 30 seconds to come back. The game doesn't wait: questions you miss count as not answered. After 30 seconds you're out — the creator can invite you back.

If the creator doesn't come back, everyone is asked Continue or Leave. With 2 or more players staying, the game goes on and the player who joined earliest becomes the new creator.

The end

The game ends:

  • when the creator ends it (the default),
  • after the number of rounds you chose (one round = everyone has had one turn), or
  • at the end of the round in which someone reaches the target score.

It also ends when the question set runs out or fewer than 2 players are left. Most points wins. A tie is shared.
